Gail and Carolyn Shaw Aquatic Center
The Chehalis Community Pool was in need of upgrades and modernization. The new aquatic center is on the site of the old pool, but now offers state-of-the-art facilities for swimmers of all ages. The center includes an expanded and modernized pool with a beach entry play area for children, two slides, a diving board, play and spray structures, and a traditional swimming area with lap lanes. The Aquatic Center features two large covered picnic areas, a fenced grassy space for small children to play safely, and community recreation room that opens onto pool area that groups can rent for private events.
Update community pool with modern swim facilities, play areas, pool house changing rooms, and community gathering spaces.
Fundraising efforts led by The Chehalis Foundation secured donations from citizens and local businesses, raising over $2.7 million for the project.
Connie Bode, CF Treasurer, acted as liaison between the Foundation and city staff. And thanks to CF’s organizational efforts, hundreds of generous people gave their time and money to modernize this recreational facility.
The City of Chehalis opened the new Gail and Carolyn Shaw Aquatic Center In August 2014 after three years of fundraising and construction. It has had more attendance in only half a season last year and is expected to break all usage records this coming year. Families from all over Lewis County are using this state of the art pool.
