History:
Herman and Virginia Adolphsen grew up in the area. They settled in Chehalis after Herman’s discharge from the Navy. Herman worked in various jobs, including as a driver’s license examiner for the Washington State Patrol, before beginning a career in real estate in 1967, which he continued until retirement in 1988. Both were deeply involved in their community, especially with their church and ministries. Herman also spearheaded a fundraising campaign for the first K-9 unit for the Chehalis Police Department, while both supported Centralia College’s programs.
Scholarship Purpose:
This scholarship honors Herman and Virginia Adolphsen’s legacy of valuing education and community. The Adolphsens wanted their daughters to have an education beyond high school, and they placed great importance on independence through education. This scholarship helps W. F. West seniors who plan to attend Centralia College, serving as a stepping stone for their continued education.
