Chehalis Police Department K-9 Unit
Reign quickly became a valued member of the Chehalis Police Department, assisting officers in countless situations that required advanced tracking and detection skills. The addition of a trained K-9 significantly enhanced the department’s ability to serve and protect the community.
About the Project
In 2012, the Chehalis Foundation stepped in to support the Chehalis Police Department by funding a new K-9 officer. Police dogs play an essential role in law enforcement. Their sense of smell (50 times more powerful than humans’) and speed on foot are of benefit to officers, and often times dogs’ very presence can inhibit suspects from fleeing or prevent physical confrontations. Thanks to a $12,000 donation, K-9 Reign officially joined the force in 2013, partnering with Officer Ayres after 400 hours of specialized training.
Project Benefits
- Strengthened public safety by improving suspect apprehension and evidence detection.
- Reduced risks for officers by discouraging suspects from resisting arrest.
- Established a valuable community resource for law enforcement.
Investment Amount

Fundraising Status
While this specific K-9 project is complete, continued funding for police department needs is always encouraged.
