Carmelita and Marion Barr
History:
Carmelita and Marion Barr valued education and self-reliance. Growing up during the Great Depression, they worked hard to achieve their goals. Marion put himself through college and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. After retirement, the couple returned to the Pacific Northwest and settled in Chehalis.
Scholarship Purpose:
Established by their children to honor their legacy, this scholarship reflects their belief in the importance of education and investing in youth as the foundation of the community’s future success.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students pursuing a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math (STEM)
Selection Considerations
Preference may be given to students who demonstrate a strong work ethic and self-motivation.

This scholarship serves as a tribute to Carmelita and Marion’s lifelong belief in helping those who help themselves.
