Beyond K-12 Student Achievement Initiative

The initiative has resulted in measurable improvements in college and career readiness for Chehalis students. The BERC Group has recognized Chehalis as one of the most improved districts in the country based on classroom evaluations. The initiative continues to provide mentorship programs, STEM education, college prep counseling, and summer college courses.

About the Project

The Beyond K-12 Student Achievement Initiative is a partnership between the Chehalis Foundation and the Chehalis School District, designed to enhance education effectiveness and prepare students for college and careers. The initiative set a goal to increase the percentage of W.F. West graduates earning college degrees from 20% to 60% by 2024. A key component was hiring the BERC Group, an education research firm, to evaluate and support classroom improvements. Since its inception, the initiative has expanded to include partnerships with Centralia College and private donors, increasing opportunities for students.
