Gail and Carolyn Shaw Aquatic Center
The City of Chehalis opened the new aquatic center in August 2014 after three years of fundraising and construction. In just half a season, attendance surpassed expectations, with families from all over Lewis County utilizing the state-of-the-art pool.
About the Project
The Chehalis Community Pool underwent significant upgrades and modernization, resulting in the new Gail and Carolyn Shaw Aquatic Center. Located on the site of the old pool, the center now offers state-of-the-art facilities for swimmers of all ages.
Project Benefits
The aquatic center features an expanded and modernized pool with a beach entry play area for children, two slides, a diving board, play and spray structures, and a traditional swimming area with lap lanes. Additional amenities include two large covered picnic areas, a fenced grassy space for small children to play safely, and a community recreation room that opens onto the pool area, available for private event rentals.
Investment Amount
Fundraising efforts led by The Chehalis Foundation secured over $2.7 million from citizens and local businesses for the project.
Fundraising Status
The necessary funds were successfully raised, and the project was completed in August 2014.
