FIRST Robotics Program
The FIRST Robotics Program provides students with real-world experience in engineering, design, and teamwork, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to pursue STEM careers. By fostering problem-solving abilities and leadership, the program prepares students for future academic and professional success.
About the Project
The FIRST Robotics Program at W.F. West High School is part of the international For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) organization, which encourages students to develop a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program promotes teamwork, creativity, and innovation through “gracious professionalism” and “coopertition” (cooperation + competition).
With support from the Chehalis Foundation, a team of 20+ students has gained hands-on experience in computer-aided design (CAD), fabrication, and robotics engineering. Their skills and dedication have led to numerous awards at regional and national competitions, demonstrating their ability to compete at the highest levels.
