History:
Richard D. Snelson, a 1999 graduate of W. F. West High School, was known for his intelligence, humility, hard work, and incredible sense of humor. After high school, Ric attended Centralia College and later the University of Washington-Tacoma, working part-time to finance his education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in just four years and went on to a successful career in computer programming at Motorola and Microsoft. Throughout his career, he contributed to multiple patented technologies.
Scholarship Purpose:
Established by Ric’s family and friends, this scholarship honors his life and legacy by supporting students who share his traits and are pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Selection Considerations
Scholarship is renewable for up to four years for students maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA while continuing their undergraduate STEM studies
